Blind UK Man Allegedly Drove 150 Miles While Drunk Without a Licence
A 49-year-old UK man who is registered blind and has never held a driving licence has been arrested after allegedly driving about 150 miles while drunk. Police reportedly stopped him after spotting the car drifting between lanes on the Huddersfield-to-Carlisle route. A breath test found that he was around three times above the legal alcohol limit. He told the court he followed the lights of heavy goods vehicles to navigate. He admitted dangerous driving, drink-driving, driving without a licence or insurance, and taking his partner’s car without permission. The court imposed an interim driving ban, and he could face up to two years in prison.
