Dangote Launches $46bn Plan to Lift Refining Capacity to 2.1 Million bpd

Dangote Launches $46bn Plan to Lift Refining Capacity to 2.1 Million bpd

Africa’s leading industrial group is set to boost its total refining capacity to 2.1 million barrels per day, marking a major step toward the continent’s energy independence. The expansion includes raising output at the Lagos refinery to 1.4 million bpd and building a new 700,000 bpd plant in Kenya for East African markets. Between 2026 and 2028, the company will invest an additional $46 billion across its refining, cement, and fertiliser divisions to drive industrial growth. A visiting delegation from Congo’s national oil company called the refinery a strategic African asset, praising Dangote for demonstrating the continent’s ability to build and operate world-class infrastructure.
