NVBF Announces October–May Season to Align with International Calendar
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation has set its league season to run from October through May starting next term. The move aims to sync domestic competitions with the international volleyball calendar. According to federation president Musa Nimrod, this schedule will ease conflicts for foreign-based Nigerian players and boost their availability for national duties. Clubs have been notified to finish the Super Cup and first phase of the Premier League by year’s end to avoid fixture congestion. The calendar shift also anticipates the impact of the 2027 general elections on sporting events. Preparations are already underway for the Zone 3 Beach Volleyball African Nations Cup qualifiers in Badagry next July, with a training camp planned in Kaduna before the tournament.
