Oyo Police Deny Pastor’s Arrest Over School Kidnap Arms Supply Claim

Oyo Police Deny Pastor’s Arrest Over School Kidnap Arms Supply Claim

Oyo State Police have dismissed online rumours that a pastor was arrested for supplying weapons to kidnappers behind the recent abduction of students and teachers in Orire LGA. DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Command’s spokesperson, described the report as false, misleading and unfounded. He confirmed no pastor or security agency has made such an arrest, and said investigations into the school kidnapping are ongoing. The police warned against spreading misinformation that could distract rescuers and undermine public confidence. They advised the public to rely only on official updates from verified channels and warned that anyone found culpable of peddling false information will face prosecution. The Oyo Police Command reiterated its commitment to the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers and to maintaining security across the state.
