Lagos Police Launches 'Command Sweepers Squad' in Ikorodu
In response to rising crime in Ikorodu, the Lagos State Police Command has set up a Special Tactical Security unit called the ‘Command Sweepers Squad’. The squad brings together tactical teams, the Eko Strike Force, PMF officers, other security agencies, and the Civilian Joint Task Force. Based in Ijede, the unit is ready for rapid deployment across Ikorodu and neighbouring areas. It is equipped with patrol vehicles and armoured personnel carriers provided by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. The squad will focus on intelligence-led operations. These include targeted raids, stop-and-search duties, and confidence-building patrols at known criminal hotspots. Residents are urged to report suspicious activity to the police through official emergency lines.
