Agege Launches TechUp Boys Cohort 4 to Equip SS2 Students with AI Skills

Lagos youths in Agege are choosing tech over crime as the Learntor Foundation and Microsoft kick off the fourth cohort of the TechUp Boys initiative. This phase brings AI and digital branding training to Senior Secondary Two students in 39 public schools across Education District I. An online drive has opened registration for the intensive two-week boot camp. Founder Mercy George-Igbafe explains that tech education is a weapon against poverty and cybercrime. The programme has already empowered 13,200 boys since 2023 and aims to create positive digital footprints that attract real job opportunities. Students expressed excitement about applying AI skills to build legitimate wealth for their families and communities. Corporate support remains vital to bridge the digital divide and help the next generation become tech creators, not just consumers.
