Tinubu Should Focus on Security, Jobs and Unity Before Seeking Re-election
I am saddened by what I see as Nigeria’s daily decline under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In my view, a president’s core duties are to protect lives and property, create conditions for jobs, make housing more affordable, and ensure access to quality healthcare. I believe the current government has fallen short in these areas. Rather than pursuing a second term, I think President Tinubu should focus on improving security, jobs, housing and healthcare before the end of his tenure. I am also concerned about what I see as growing ethnic and religious division in the country. Nigeria needs leadership that unites citizens around a shared national purpose. A widely circulated statement attributed to former South African president P. W. Botha is used to support this argument, although its authenticity is unclear. Regardless, I believe Nigerian leaders should prove such racist claims wrong through accountable and inclusive governance.
