Oyo APC Activists Decry 'Unlawful' Substitution of Adegbola, Warn of Electoral Loss
The New Age Transformative Leadership for Good Governance (NATLFGG) accuses the APC leadership in Oyo State of breaching internal democracy by replacing Col. Gbenga Adegbola (rtd) with Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan. NATLFGG national coordinator AK Peters says ignoring members’ choice is a truncation of democracy. He warns that ratifying Ogunesan’s candidacy is “political self-sabotage” that could hand the seat to the opposition in the 2027 elections. The group highlights Col. Adegbola’s popularity, grassroots work and youth initiatives as proof of his merit. Deputy national coordinator Muhammad Sani adds that true democracy must respect the majority’s will. NATLFGG is calling on the APC national leadership to reverse the substitution and reinstate Col. Adegbola to avoid an electoral backlash. Neither the Oyo APC chapter nor Mrs. Ogunesan’s camp has responded.
