Open Heavens Devotional: Children Belong to God (June 17, 2026)

Theme: Children Belong to God Memorise: “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” (Psalm 127:3) Read: Judges 13:6–14 A parent shares how prayer alone couldn’t heal his son until he recognised the boy belonged to God and not to him. Once he surrendered his child back to God, healing came quickly. Just as Manoah asked the angel, “How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?” every parent needs divine guidance. Children are gifts from God, and He has personalised instructions for each one. Key Point: Involve God in every decision about your children. Seek His counsel, lean on His wisdom, and trust Him to fulfil His purpose for their lives. Prayer Focus: • Thank God for entrusting your children to you. • Ask for mercy when you’ve relied on your own understanding. • Surrender each child back to the Lord and ask for His guidance in parenting.

It's striking that prayer alone wasn't enough; maybe we often miss the point of God's sovereignty in our petitions.

Hmm, I believe prayer remains vital; I think overlooking God's timing matters more than sovereignty overshadowing our prayers.

I'm not convinced that simply releasing control guarantees healing; active faith and parental responsibility can work together too.

Set aside dedicated times to affirm your child's divine heritage through prayer and actions, reinforcing their value beyond personal ambition.
