Amichi Bishop Urges Nigerians to Reclaim Their Nation from Oppressive Leaders
The Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese challenged Nigerians to rise up and reclaim their country from leaders he described as destroyers. He delivered this message during the presidential address at the recent synod held at St James Church, Azigbo. The bishop decried the inhumane attitude of some authorities who have failed to guarantee citizens’ security and welfare. He warned that any government neglecting these duties loses its legitimacy and urged Nigerians of voting age to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections. He commended Governor Charles Soludo on his re-election and called on him to continue delivering people‐oriented policies. Other speakers included the Archbishop of the Province of the Niger, who praised the synod’s theme, a senator who appealed for patience with the economy, and a senatorial candidate who stressed the value of grassroots democracy. The synod also conferred new archdeacon and canon titles on several priests and awarded four clerics five‐million‐naira housing cheques. Attendees included Anglican bishops from across Nigeria, traditional rulers and government officials.
