DSS Arraigns Ex-Governor El-Rufai on 5-Count National Security Breach Charge
The Department of State Services arraigned former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai at the Federal High Court in Abuja. He faces a five-count amended charge alleging breach of national security. El-Rufai pleaded not guilty to all counts. DSS lawyer Oluwole Aladedoye informed Justice Joyce Abdulmalik that the new indictment was filed on April 13 and asked the court to strike out the earlier three-count charge. El-Rufai’s counsel, Oluwole Iyamu, confirmed service of the amended charge and did not oppose its substitution. After the plea, the DSS sought three consecutive trial dates. Iyamu objected, citing difficulties accessing his client in ICPC custody and noting that further bail affidavits were missing from the court file. The judge adjourned to allow those documents to be filed.
