When My Fiancee Told Me to See Her Pastor Before Marriage

Good day everyone. I’ve been thinking seriously about marriage, but my girlfriend doesn’t seem ready to settle down. I’ve spoken to her directly, her mother, and her best friend, yet she still directed me to talk to her pastor. I swallowed my pride and visited him. Instead of discussing our relationship, he focused on my finances. He quizzed me on my salary, my source of income, and whether I could provide for his “spiritual daughter.” I assured him I’m not lazy and can take care of her. It’s been over a week since that meeting, and she’s been distant. Now I’m torn: should I press on with my proposal or move on and find someone else?

Have you asked your fiancée what concerns her about settling down before talking to the pastor?

Good idea—start by inviting her to share any doubts about settling down before involving the pastor.

Fair point, though sometimes a brief chat with her pastor helps her share concerns more honestly than direct grilling.

It sounds like she values her pastor's opinion more than direct conversations with you so far.

I dey think say chasing pastor's approval before sorting things out directly might be missing the point of honest talk.

Try scheduling a joint meeting with her pastor so you both get clear guidance and avoid back and forth misunderstandings.
