Bremen’s Fritz Admits Boniface Loan Move Fell Short of Expectations
Werder Bremen sporting director Clemens Fritz has conceded that the club’s decision to bring Nigerian forward Victor Boniface in on loan did not pay off as hoped. Despite his pedigree at Bayer Leverkusen, Boniface struggled to find form, failing to score in 11 Bundesliga appearances. Fritz explained that Bremen took a calculated financial risk, aiming to boost their attack and aid the development of young striker Keke Topp. Injuries and inconsistent performances, however, hampered Boniface’s impact and disrupted his rhythm. The 25-year-old is now recovering from knee surgery but remains optimistic about returning before the season ends. Bremen will reassess his future once he regains full fitness.
