Applying God’s Commands: True Worship and Honour
Good morning, brethren. Worshipping God is good, but serving Him in spirit and truth matters most. When our motives are wrong, even good acts become harmful—like taking medicine for the wrong reason. God worked six days and rested on the seventh, declaring all He made as good. He commanded the Israelites to gather manna for six days, with a double portion on the sixth. Those who gathered on the Sabbath found nothing and faced consequence (Deut. 5:11–12; Ex. 16). Honouring our parents is the bedrock of social order. It requires deep respect, care and esteem, with the promise of longevity and prosperity (Eph. 6:2–3). Jesus warned against hypocrisy (Matt. 15:8–9; 6:1). The Pharisees valued human traditions over God’s commands and performed public acts for praise. True worship seeks God’s approval, not human applause. As we worship today, let the Holy Spirit remove pride, comparison and the desire for applause. Amen.
