Wike, Fubara Allies Move Closer to Reconciliation in Rivers

Allies of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara say they are making progress towards ending the political crisis that has divided the state since 2023. The Magnus Abe-led Rainbow Coalition reconciliation committee met with Governor Fubara at Government House, Port Harcourt. The group said no member would be victimised over past disagreements as consultations continue. Committee members described the talks as a major step towards restoring unity, although they said Wike’s formal endorsement is still needed to conclude the process. The reconciliation could reshape Rivers politics ahead of 2027. Residents will be watching to see whether the renewed political cooperation leads to greater stability and improved attention to infrastructure, jobs, security and other governance concerns.
