Bandits Abduct Children, Pregnant Woman in Late-Night Kwara Community Raid

Bandits Abduct Children, Pregnant Woman in Late-Night Kwara Community Raid

Residents of Abudu community in Oke Oyi, Ilorin East LGA of Kwara State, say suspected bandits invaded their homes around 11pm on Tuesday. The attackers allegedly beat residents, looted property and abducted several people, including children and a pregnant woman. One injured mother said she and three of her children were taken from their home. She said the gunmen later abandoned her in the forest because her injuries prevented her from moving, but they kept her children. Another resident said the attackers surrounded homes, broke through gates, fired shots and took captives away. Ilorin East council chairman Lukman Olayinka confirmed the attack after visiting the community with security operatives. He said the abducted victims include Wasiu, Jamiu and a pregnant woman, Amidah, while more than ₦4 million in charcoal-business proceeds was reportedly stolen. Security agencies and local vigilantes have begun search efforts.

Calling them suspected bandits is appropriate for now; the reported invasion is serious, but details should still be verified carefully.
