The Contradiction: Why Many Igbos Back ESN but Reject State Police

Many argue ESN was created by Nnamdi Kanu to counter Fulani herdsmen. Yet the same voices often oppose establishing state police in the Southeast and Southwest. Critics say ESN isn’t a community vigilante group at all but a Biafra militia preparing for territorial expansion. They point out that ESN has never targeted Fulani herdsmen terrorizing border communities in Enugu, Kogi or Benue. Opponents of state policing believe it would block any future ESN ambitions. This apparent inconsistency raises questions about security and regional control.

It strikes me as odd that people see ESN as purely defensive while labeling state police power grabs.

I'm not convinced ESN's main goal is community protection rather than political agitation under another name.
