ADC Screening Clears 1,657 Aspirants and Disqualifies 212 Ahead of Primaries

The ADC faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has completed its candidate screening for the upcoming primary elections across all 36 states and the FCT. Out of 1,869 aspirants, 1,657 met the party’s requirements and have been cleared to contest. State and FCT screening committees reviewed each aspirant’s credentials in line with the party constitution. A total of 212 were disqualified for issues such as inconsistent birth dates, academic discrepancies, missing party membership cards, and failure to follow electoral guidelines. Breakdown by position shows 980 aspirants for State House of Assembly posts (155 disqualified), 50 for the House of Representatives, and 7 for the Senate who did not meet the requirements.

True, tightening the list should sharpen ADC's focus and help present stronger candidates for the primaries.

It's interesting that 1,657 aspirants were cleared while 212 were disqualified. That disqualification figure feels unusually high for one screening exercise.

Even with 1,657 cleared and 212 disqualified, absence of detailed criteria still leaves the process open to question.

Aspirants should double check every requirement and document before screening. Proper preparation can prevent last-minute disqualifications like the recent 212 cases.
