Abia Father Arrested After Stone Accidentally Kills His 8-Year-Old Daughter

The Abia State Police Command says Mr. Chidi Stanley of Obiohuru, Akwete, was arrested on May 11 after a domestic quarrel with his sister turned tragic. During the argument he threw a stone that struck his eight-year-old daughter, who later died at a nearby hospital. Police allege the family concealed the incident and began burial preparations without reporting it. Officers, acting on intelligence, recovered the body and invited the family for questioning. When community youths blocked access, tensions rose and some youths attempted to attack the officers. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The Commissioner of Police in Abia State has called for calm, urged residents to provide credible information, and warned against shielding suspects or attacking officers.
