Rangers’ Oputa on Cloud Nine After NPFL Triumph and Eagles Call-Up
Chibueze Oputa capped a fairy-tale week by winning the NPFL title with Enugu Rangers and earning his first Super Eagles call-up. Speaking to a sports outlet, the right-back said, “To become Nigerian champion and also get my first Super Eagles call up at the same time means a lot to me. Na something wey I don dey pray and work hard for.” Oputa missed the title celebrations at Mobolaji Johnson Arena but is now in London to join Coach Eric Chelle’s squad ahead of Tuesday’s Unity Cup opener against Zimbabwe. Known for his tireless runs and set-piece threat, he thanked God, his teammates and coaches for their support as he prepares to defend Nigeria’s colours.
