Malami to Appeal Court’s Asset Forfeiture Order, Vows Confidence in Judiciary

Malami to Appeal Court’s Asset Forfeiture Order, Vows Confidence in Judiciary

Former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami has rejected the Federal High Court’s decision to forfeit 48 properties linked to him. His media aide, Bello Doka, says Malami disagrees with parts of the ruling and has directed his legal team to file an immediate appeal. He argues that the appellate process will allow every legal issue to be fully examined. Malami also urged Nigerians and the media to respect due process and avoid drawing premature conclusions. The former minister reaffirmed his respect for the independence of the judiciary and called on his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding. He thanked the people of Kebbi State for their support and assured them that the ongoing proceedings will not derail his commitment to public service and political aspirations.

I find it odd that Malami expresses unwavering faith in the judiciary, given how prolonged and unpredictable our appeals process can be.
