Neighbours Recount Fatal Attack on Colonel Ude at His Abuja Home
Residents of Kurudu in Abuja have recounted the fatal shooting of Colonel Abdulrasaq Ude, a senior military intelligence officer, at his home on Monday night. His wife, driver and security guard were also injured and are receiving treatment. Preliminary accounts indicate that armed men opened fire shortly after the colonel arrived at his residence. Sources said the attackers may have attempted to abduct him, but a relative disputed this account, alleging that he was deliberately targeted and assassinated. Authorities have yet to publicly establish the motive. Neighbours said the gunmen fired repeatedly after the gate was opened and that residents fled for safety. The attack has heightened fear in the isolated Kurudu community, while military personnel have since been deployed around the residence. Colonel Ude, who reportedly served in intelligence and counterterrorism roles and was approaching promotion to Brigadier General, was buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites. His family and residents have called for a thorough investigation and stronger security in the area.
