Oluremi Tinubu Launches South-West Food Bank for Vulnerable Families in Ogun

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has launched the South-West Zonal National Community Food Bank in Ogun State, with a call for other states in the region to establish similar facilities. The programme is intended to provide free nutritious food for vulnerable households, especially children under six, pregnant women and nursing mothers. She said the food banks should be located close to Primary Healthcare Centres so vulnerable families can be identified and supported more easily. The National Primary Health Care Development Agency said the initiative is expected to operate through 13,500 primary healthcare centres nationwide and will also link food distribution with local agricultural production. During the visit, the First Lady also commissioned the food bank in Makun, Sagamu, the President Muhammadu Buhari Estate and the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence. Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun said the projects were aimed at improving access to housing, healthcare, nutrition and social protection.
