Stabbing in Fotokol Sparks Xenophobic Attacks on Nigerians Across Border
A deadly stabbing in Fotokol, Cameroon on April 29 triggered violent reprisals against Nigerian nationals living near the border. Reports say a Cameroonian man was fatally stabbed by a Nigerian suspect who remains at large. Following the incident, mobs targeted Nigerians in the area. One Nigerian was killed and seven others injured before troops from 3 Battalion (Mechanised) and 24 Task Force Brigade arrived to restore order. The injured have been taken to a general hospital in Ngala, Borno State, where they are receiving treatment. Authorities are now working to track down the suspect and prevent further attacks on border communities.
