Tinubu Deploys 5,000 AI CCTV Cameras to Boost Security in Plateau State

On April 2, 2026, President Bola Tinubu announced the deployment of 5,000 AI-powered CCTV cameras across Plateau State. The measure aims to enhance security after a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, which left 28 people dead and many injured. During his visit to Jos, the president expressed condolences to the victims’ families. He urged security chiefs to bring the attackers to justice and directed the Communications Minister to oversee a swift installation of the cameras, starting in Jos before expanding statewide.
