INEC Seeks Dismissal of Emeka Ike’s N10bn Suit, Denies Voter Data Leak
The Independent National Electoral Commission has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss the N10 billion lawsuit filed by actor Emeka Ike. He alleges that his voter registration details were leaked ahead of the 2027 general elections. INEC denies sharing any confidential data and insists that voter information is public under the Electoral Act 2026. In its counter-affidavit, the commission says it is empowered to compile, display, and publish the voters’ register without prior consent. Media aide Lere Olayinka has also urged the court to throw out the case, arguing the details he posted were already in the public domain. Justice Salim Ibrahim will hear the matter on October 12.
