NNPC Foundation Donates 1.5T MRI to NAUTH, Boosting Specialist Care in Southeast
Patients in southeastern Nigeria can now access advanced diagnostics closer to home after NNPC Foundation installed a modern 1.5 Tesla MRI system at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital. Hospital authorities say the new machine will deliver faster, more accurate diagnoses for neurological, musculoskeletal and cancer conditions. The intervention is expected to cut down on long-distance referrals and high costs for communities across Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi and Delta states. The Chief Medical Director described the installation as “the installation of hope, precision and excellence in healthcare delivery.” NNPC Foundation’s managing director added that this investment aligns with wider efforts to strengthen public healthcare under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Hospital management stressed that equipment alone is not enough. Parallel investments in staff training and quality standards will ensure every scan meets international benchmarks and improves patient outcomes.
