Rescued Woro Kidnap Victims Arrive in Ilorin After Six Months in Captivity

Women and children rescued after the February attack on Woro and Nukku communities in Kaiama LGA, Kwara State, have arrived in Ilorin after about six months in captivity. The victims were received at the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division, Sobi Barracks, before being moved for medical assessment and care. They are expected to be reunited with their families after the state completes health and identification checks. A Kwara lawmaker said not all of the 176 people abducted have returned. He said about 25 victims are still missing, while reports from those rescued suggest that some captives died and others, including children aged 13 and above, may have been forced into the abductors’ ranks. The rescue follows months of military and security operations after the deadly attack on the communities.
