Why Jesus Fed 5,000 and 4,000 People in Two Separate Miracles

Jesus fed about 5,000 men in Galilee with five loaves and two fish. Twelve baskets were left over. Later, Jesus fed about 4,000 people with seven loaves and a few fish in the Decapolis region. This largely Gentile area, together with the seven baskets left over, is commonly understood as showing that Christ’s compassion and provision extended beyond Israel to the nations. The two miracles carry one powerful message: the same Jesus who fed Israel also made room at the table for the whole world.
