Tinubu Directs Land Allocation in Abuja for 70 Ambassador-Designates

Tinubu Directs Land Allocation in Abuja for 70 Ambassador-Designates

President Tinubu has approved a parcel of land in Abuja for each of the 70 ambassador-designates. The Federal Capital Territory Minister disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on April 29. The minister explained that the president wants incoming envoys to have a base in the capital when they return to brief him on developments in their host countries. He instructed that land application forms be completed before the diplomats depart Nigeria. This move aims to provide ambassadors with a permanent Abuja residence, eliminating the need for hotel accommodations on future visits.

Allocating land to 70 ambassador-designates comes off as costly, yet we don't know how development timelines will unfold.

Redirecting resources from grassroots projects to these land grants feels backwards when other regions need urgent attention.
