Rice Tapped as England Vice-Captain Ahead of 2026 World Cup
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has been confirmed as England’s vice-captain for the 2026 World Cup by manager Thomas Tuchel. Rice, who already has 72 caps for the Three Lions, first wore the armband in Harry Kane’s absence earlier this season. Tuchel hinted after a recent friendly win that Rice will officially hold the vice-captain role alongside Kane. The 27-year-old played a major part in Arsenal’s first Premier League title since 2004 and their journey to the Champions League final. He has now joined fellow Gunners Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze in England’s US training camp. England kicks off Group L on June 17 against Croatia, then faces Ghana and Panama as it aims for World Cup glory.
