US Federal Agents Crack Down on India-Based Crime Syndicates, 24 Arrested in Major Raids
Federal agents have arrested 24 suspects linked to three India-based organized crime groups in a multi-country operation known as “Operation Hard Ball.” Eleven arrests took place in California, with the rest in Indiana, Georgia, Canada, Spain, and seven already in custody. Authorities executed warrants across Los Angeles and Sacramento. They seized about 1,000 kg of cocaine, 1 kg of heroin, $40,000 in cash, and a dozen firearms. Federal prosecutors unsealed indictments charging 37 defendants with racketeering, extortion, and drug trafficking. Officials say these syndicates used violence, kidnappings, and threats to extort communities in North America and abroad. Agents are still hunting several fugitives linked to the network.
