Gunmen Kill Police Inspector, Air Force Corporal in Plateau Patrol Ambush

Gunmen ambushed a joint security patrol in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing a police inspector and an Air Force corporal and taking their service weapons. The attack reportedly happened around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, after four personnel mounted a snap roadblock along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida road. Two officers did not return to their duty posts, prompting an immediate search operation. Security forces later recovered the bodies of the two personnel and their motorcycle. A cordon-and-search operation is ongoing in nearby communities as authorities seek the attackers and the stolen weapons.
