Amaechi Should Thank Obi for Quitting ADC, Lawyer Idam Says

Activist lawyer Maduabuchi Idam argued that Peter Obi’s exit from the African Democratic Congress spared Rotimi Amaechi a more humiliating defeat in the party’s 2027 presidential primary. Idam noted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s victory was expected and likely would have been a landslide even without campaign spending. He said Amaechi would have placed third if Obi had stayed in the race. The lawyer warned both Amaechi and former President Goodluck Jonathan against overreaching. He urged them to recognise the limits of grace and favour. Idam also mocked Atiku’s persistence in seeking the presidency and called on Nigeria to break free from entrenched power brokers.
