Superdry Co-Founder James Holder Convicted of Rape
A UK court has found James Holder, co-founder of the fashion label Superdry, guilty of rape after a five-day trial at Gloucester Crown Court. The 54-year-old was cleared of a separate assault charge but denied bail amid concerns he could flee the country. Prosecutors say the incident occurred in May 2022 when Holder joined a woman at her flat after a night out. Court evidence included the woman’s video-recorded interview and Holder’s own police statement, in which he claimed his actions were driven by a “love of women and sex.” Superdry has confirmed Holder left the company years before the incident and says the case does not involve its business activities.
