Taraba Pilgrim Dies at Yola Airport Hours Before Hajj Flight
An intending pilgrim from Taraba State collapsed at Yola International Airport shortly before her scheduled departure for the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. The deceased, Hajiya Dado Hammadu of Sardauna Local Government, fell ill on the night of May 10. She was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Yola where she was diagnosed with low blood pressure and later died. The Taraba State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board confirmed the incident. With her family’s consent, she was buried in Yola the next morning following funeral prayers attended by pilgrims and state officials. She was among 415 pilgrims slated for the first Taraba airlift on May 11.
