CAN Warns Jonathan’s Possible 2027 Comeback Could Split Opposition Vote

CAN Warns Jonathan’s Possible 2027 Comeback Could Split Opposition Vote

The Christian Association of Nigeria has raised alarm over shifting alliances ahead of the 2027 election. A senior CAN leader warned that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s return under the PDP may deepen divisions within the opposition. He noted that Jonathan could secure the South-South, while other contenders split support in their regions. This fragmentation, he said, may ultimately favour the ruling party once more. The cleric also expressed concern about rising tensions among opposition figures. He urged them to avoid internal conflicts and trust that the electoral outcome will reflect the will of God.

It's odd that CAN is warning now, just as PDP alliances are still taking shape ahead of 2027.
