Lagos Firefighters Collapse Battling Ketu-Ikosi Residential Blaze
Two firefighters collapsed while tackling a fire on the top floor of a twin three-storey building at No. 11 Ademola Taiwo Street, Ketu-Ikosi, Lagos. LASEMA said its Tiger Squad joined the State Fire and Rescue Service to contain the blaze before it spread to the adjoining building. Preliminary investigations point to an electrical surge from a prepaid meter on the front balcony as the likely cause. The two officers were evacuated by ambulance to a trauma centre and are in stable condition. No civilians were injured. Dampening-down and recovery operations are ongoing, and residents are urged to inspect and maintain their electrical installations regularly.
