State-by-State HIV Treatment Numbers in Nigeria: Over 1.7 Million on Therapy
Here are the latest figures for people receiving HIV treatment across Nigeria as of May 13, 2026. Benue leads with 195,305 patients on therapy, followed by Akwa Ibom (158,201) and Lagos (135,918). Rivers (90,055) and Nasarawa (65,996) round out the top five. States with fewer patients include Ekiti (12,356), Yobe (10,716) and Sokoto (10,511). Nationwide, a total of 1.70 million people are currently on HIV treatment. These numbers highlight ongoing efforts to expand antiretroviral therapy access.
