ADC Convention in Abuja: Atiku, Mark and Aregbesola Slam Tinubu Over Insecurity and Hardship
Key ADC figures united at the party’s Abuja convention to condemn the Tinubu administration. Former Senate President David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-governors Rauf Aregbesola, Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi criticised worsening insecurity and rising poverty under the current government. They warned that victory will not come easy in the 2027 elections. Despite rival factions led by Nafiu Bala and a recent INEC delisting of party leaders, the convention affirmed Mark’s National Working Committee and adopted a revised constitution. Speakers called for accountability at INEC and urged Nigerians to rally behind a credible alternative. Aregbesola even suggested that Tinubu should step down over the security crisis and rising cost of living. The ADC has been split into three factions since 2025, each contesting leadership and pending court rulings. The Supreme Court will hear a key appeal on April 22, and lower courts have paused related cases until the apex court decides. The outcome will shape the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections.
