Kano Governor Meets FG, Contractor Ahead of ₦1.05tn Light Rail Groundbreaking
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has met with officials of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated and Mota-Engil Nigeria ahead of the planned groundbreaking for the Kano Light Rail project. The delegation briefed the governor on preparations for the project, which is reported to have received federal approval at a cost of ₦1.05 trillion. The proposed rail system is intended to improve urban transport, reduce traffic congestion and support commercial activity in Kano. Yusuf said the state would work with the Federal Government and contractors on the project. The Federal Government is also expected to finance metro rail projects in Lagos and Kaduna.
