APDF Blasts Sultan’s Silence on Dasuki, Questions Focus on El-Rufai
The Arewa Peace and Development Forum (APDF) has criticised the Sultan of Sokoto for speaking out on former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai’s legal case while remaining silent on the prolonged detention of ex-NSA Sambo Dasuki. In a statement, APDF Coordinator Mal Ibrahim Mohammed Musawa called this selective commentary “troubling” and at odds with the Sultan’s role as a balanced moral leader. APDF noted that Sambo Dasuki is closely linked to the Sokoto institution and that his unresolved trial raises serious questions about justice and the rule of law. By urging President Tinubu to either charge or release El-Rufai yet ignoring Dasuki’s plight, the Sultan risks undermining public confidence in traditional authorities. While praising the Sultan’s past efforts in peacebuilding and interfaith harmony, APDF urged him to adopt a more consistent approach. The group called on the revered monarch to clarify his stance on Dasuki and ensure his interventions reflect the broader national interest rather than appearing selective.
