FG Launches ₦10bn Mortgage Scheme to Help Civil Servants Own Homes
Head of the Civil Service Didi Walson-Jack has unveiled a ₦10 billion housing loan scheme for federal workers. The programme will be managed by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board. The scheme aims to boost home ownership, improve civil servants’ welfare and drive productivity. Owning a home, she noted, enhances stability, morale and focus on the job. This initiative is part of broader public service reforms that include digitalisation, transparency and greater efficiency. It reflects the administration’s belief that well-supported staff deliver a stronger service for Nigeria. Didi Walson-Jack called on all ministries, departments and agencies to collaborate fully on this and other reforms. She said the scheme will be a key highlight for civil servants during this year’s Workers’ Day.
