True Healing Means Letting Go

True Healing Means Letting Go

Forgiveness can heal the person who was hurt, but pain does not always leave everyone else at the same time. Like raindrops that continue to fall after a storm, resentment may linger in the hearts of those who witnessed an offense. They may seek justice or revenge even when the injured person has chosen peace. True healing is complete when both the offended person and those around them are able to let go.

Letting go may heal someone, but it should not automatically be treated as the same thing as justice or accountability.

Maybe healing starts by naming both needs clearly: the hurt person may choose forgiveness, while others can seek fair accountability without revenge.
