My Fiancée Ended Our Engagement Twice. Should I Give Her a Third Chance?

My Fiancée Ended Our Engagement Twice. Should I Give Her a Third Chance? — 1 of 2
1 / 2

I met Sharon at a friend’s wedding in 2024, and our relationship quickly became serious. When I proposed in December 2025, she accepted, but her family later rejected me after learning I was not related to the wealthy politician they assumed I knew. She ended the engagement rather than risk being disowned. A week later, she returned, saying she wanted to marry me despite her family’s objections. But she repeatedly avoided meeting my family in Ibadan and eventually ended the relationship again. I was left to explain a second cancelled engagement to my family. Months later, she asked for another chance, and I agreed quietly. When she later asked for space again, I blocked her. She has now apologised and sent a signed promise that she truly wants to build a life with me. I still love her, but I do not know whether giving her a third chance would lead to marriage or another heartbreak.

What has changed since the second breakup that makes a third chance feel different?

Exactly. A third try needs more than sweet promises; the pattern itself has to look genuinely different.

It sounds painful that family assumptions about your connections became part of such a personal decision.

A third chance is not automatically romantic if the same pressure and uncertainty are still unresolved.

Before deciding, have an honest conversation about family boundaries, commitment, and what happens when pressure returns.
