Nigerians Among Five Arrested in India Over Facebook Scam
Kaithal Cyber Police arrested five suspects, including two Nigerians, for duping a Kaithal resident of Rs 8.75 lakh in a Facebook friendship scam. Investigators say the gang lured the victim with messages, photos of gifts, and a fake foreign identity. They then posed as customs and bank officials to demand fake fees in multiple instalments. Arrests took place between June 13 and 16 in Delhi. One suspect is in judicial custody; the others are on police remand. Police warn against accepting friend requests from strangers online and urge anyone with suspicious calls or messages to report to the national cyber helpline.
