Europe Plans NATO Alliance That Can Operate Independently of the US

Europe is drawing up plans for a European-led NATO capable of operating without US forces. Officials say the move addresses concerns over America’s reliability and recent threats to withdraw from the alliance. Several countries are reintroducing conscription, boosting defence production and preparing joint exercises along the Russian border in the Nordic region.
