APM Southwest Chairman Seeks Court Order to Stop Bauchi Convention

A leadership dispute in the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has reached the Federal High Court in Ibadan, where Musibau Olayiwola is seeking an interim order to stop the party’s National/General Convention in Bauchi on August 12 and 13, 2026. Olayiwola, who says he was elected APM Southwest Zonal Chairman at the party’s May 23 congress, alleges that the national leadership refused to issue him a nomination form required for the ratification of his position at the convention. He claims the form was instead given to another person who did not emerge from the zonal congress. He is asking the court to restrain APM leaders and the convention planning committee from proceeding with the event, and to stop INEC from monitoring it until his application is heard. The party and other defendants have been named in the suit, but the allegations remain unproven and are yet to be decided by the court. The case could affect the party’s convention plans and determine how its Southwest zonal leadership is recognised.
