Trump Threatens CNN Over Iran Coverage Following Fake Nigerian News Claim

Trump Threatens CNN Over Iran Coverage Following Fake Nigerian News Claim

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened legal action against CNN over its reporting on Iran. The dispute began after CNN cited a statement linked to a Nigerian fake news website. Trump originally gave Iran an 8 p.m. ET deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that refusal could lead to catastrophic consequences for global civilization. Ninety minutes before that deadline, the White House and Trump announced a ceasefire plan. They said the U.S. and Iran would negotiate an end to hostilities, reopen the strait, and suspend fighting for two weeks. CNN’s live blog then covered Iran’s response, citing its Supreme National Security Council’s report of a ten-point plan.

Threatening headlines aside, I'm not convinced one fake source makes us lose faith in the whole press.

It's unusual for a president to threaten legal action over a report tied to a questionable website, especially when global stakes are already high.

I'm not convinced this is purely about accuracy; feels more like a political strategy to distract from the real issues at hand.
