Niger State Mourns: Governor Bago Pays Tribute to Late Sonfada Etsu Nupe

The Nupe Kingdom and communities across Niger State are in mourning after the passing of Mahmud Abubakar, the Sonfada Etsu Nupe. Governor Umaru Bago described the news as a “colossal loss” and extended heartfelt condolences to Etsu Nupe Yahaya Abubakar, the Bida Emirate, and the late royal’s family. In a statement from his press office, the governor highlighted the Sonfada’s dedication to traditional leadership and community development. The governor prayed for the repose of Mahmud Abubakar’s soul, asking for forgiveness of his shortcomings and for him to be granted Aljanat Firdaus. He urged relatives and associates to remain steadfast in prayer and carry on the values he championed. Widely respected for his service and unity-building efforts, the late Sonfada’s death marks the end of a significant chapter in the Nupe Kingdom’s history.
